Windows 7: Is this week's batch of updates too troublesome?

I posted my problem in this forum yesterday but cannot find it today...?

After downloading and installing all the Windows Updates of July 12th I found IE9, FF21, and Windows Live Mail to be displaying incorrectly. Both browsers and WLM had mostly black screens with only partial portions displaying the content.

Deleted all the .NET updates and rebooted - no change.

Deleted all the Security Updates and rebooted - no change.

Located all the Windows 7 updates but cannot find where/how to delete them.

Had to go back to my backup of July 7th to get everything working normally.

Have been waiting to see if others have experienced this with the July 12th updates....

No issues here with any of them. You could run a system restore to before July 12th.

I'm not sure how you Deleted some updates, and can't find where/how to delete other updates...
In case you didn't know, there is a link on the Update History window for removing updates...

I'm going to hold off at least another week. I've run full scans with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, both turned up totally clean. I made a manual restore point today, though I still have one from the 6th too. I should download and run the system update readiness tool and see what it says but I'm not jumping on this just yet. I still want to backup certain files and need some more blank DVDs. If this update does totally break my system I'll have to either uninstall those updates and go with a restore point and hope it fixes it, or go back to factory settings with my Gateway discs. I am also waiting to see if MS acknowledges any issues with these updates.

I'm still too paranoid of something going wrong because of how many others have had issues with this month's updates. It's far more than the usual rate of errors for updates.

No problem with this round of updates.

But I'm still having a problem with the IE10 update.

Do you have a link to that thread?

I'd like to see if it will help my IE10, ever since I updated it won't show more than 7 out of the 33 folders I have in Libraries\Pictures, except one time over the weekend it showed all 33, now it's back to hiding those 26 again.

I create a System Backup Image before installing the updates.
If something does go wrong with the updates, it's easy to restore the image.

I'm not sure a system image is viable for me right now as I have 440 GB on this disc used, with 490 total free. I don't have any spare drives as my only spare had to be used in another PC.

Incidentally, I checked my second Windows XP computer. Even though I had it set merely to notify me of updates, it chose to download and install most of the XP updates over the past few days without notifying me or asking my consent to do so. Today it offered 2 updates- MSRT and the MSE updates, both of which I installed. It seemed fine, PC worked after reboot, then I shut down for a couple of hours and rebooted to find MSE was stopped and refused to restart. I had to uninstall, download the install package from MS, and reinstall just to get it working, which has me at the previous version again and wanting to download and install the update again. I'm refusing since the last time seemed to render the program inoperable. I've restarted this PC twice after the MSE reinstall and each time it worked fine, so I'm guessing the new update to MSE has issues with XP.

edit- I have my used space down to 345 GB. I'm still in the middle of disk cleanup, weeding out the junk I don't need, and will do some further backups once I get some more blank DVDs. Once I get it down to 300 GB total or less I should be able to make a full disk image, as long as it can stay on this HDD.
