I store my User data on different partitions than the "C" partition.
My "C" partition is for the OS and installed programs only, and I'm not a gamer.
Space used for "C" is < 40 GB for me, so Backup Images are 20 GB or less.

It's a good idea to also have Backup Image(s) on a different HD than the System is installed on.
That way if the OS HD fails you can recover without a complete reinstall of everything.

I did find this article about issues with one of the patches for this month.
Another botched Windows patch: MS13-057/KB 2803821/KB 2834904

Do you have any links to the reported issues you found?

Right now, if necessary I could store the backup on my other computer, provided I get the total size down enough so I'm not choking it to bursting. Though if I can raise some cash shortly I can buy another HDD.

Ideally I should have Windows installed on one low-capacity drive and another for files, but hard drives cost money. But now that I'm not wasting money on stuff like action figures and trinkets I'll have more cash for necessities. I'm thinking I'll buy another hard drive(probably a standard 7200 RPM) and slap it in this PC as a second drive for games and such. Admittedly, the one in this PC now is the original from 2009 and it'll probably fail eventually. It's also a "green" drive(the HDD equivalent of a low-flow toilet) so it's slow and not ideal for gaming.

I saw a thread on the Steam forums about that issue, it's affecting other games too. Mostly what I've seen have been threads here and at the Microsoft tech forums, and the frequency of issues has been higher than usual. PCs not booting to Windows, slow performance, network connections being lost, web browser not working, etc., all starting after the updates. Given the issues I've had with MSE on my Dell, I'm not surprised. Not only did MSE not work but some things were slowed down until I uninstalled it. It took about 1 minute for the uninstall program list to populate. After I uninstalled and reinstalled the prior version, things worked fine.

Odd though, that particular update was installed on my XP machine under the 2803821 entry when the XP version is supposed to have a different one. Not yet found a way to uninstall it from XP since it has that total junk update service.
