This Copy of Windows 7 is not Genuine?? You're kidding??!!

I left my laptop on sleep, and came back to it, to be greeted by this message in the bottom right of my desktop.. Attachment 276663 ....it almost blew me out of my chair.

OK. So I then did a check for Updates and found one from Windows Defender. Went ahead and successfully downloaded and installed it - my thinking being that if my system was NOT genuine, then the Update would have been denied and rejected? Correct??

I then went ahead and completed a system validation via Microsoft links, and when I got back to the Desktop, the message above was gone.

I then did a few more checks to verify that all was OK and genuine ... [Identifying detail have been removed]

Attachment 276664 Attachment 276665

Attachment 276666 Attachment 276667

Has anyone else been 'hit' by this strange message to the desktop..

For now though, everything seems to be OK with the laptop, and there are no other indicators that something is wrong. Go figure...

But I would like to find out why the message appeared in the first instance...

Never, ever showed up before any other outstanding Updates Steph, and have had a smack on hand from Brink for incorrect posting of thread...So will now follow his learned advice, and repost here... be interesting to see how it goes.

Still perplexed by that message though

The MGADiag report shows the system as being properly activated, and was validated successfully today.

Temporary notifications are often the result of a race condition where something competes with the Software Protection system for control of resources - most often either malware or over-eager AV.
Usually a reboot will fix it, but it an occasionally be fairly stubborn - and it's often almost impossible to identify the culprit as the mere act of looking for it changes the conditions so that it doesn't happen!

Unless you get a consistent notification, just ignore it until you need to reboot.
