    Updates will not install

I had 7 important updates that downloaded OK but would not install. The two error codes were 64C and 66A. There was no message except "Failed to install". I tried several times with same result. I then tried to install one at a time. Got the same results.

I then followed the instructions in your Win Update Instructions, got a good results from the "scannow"scan.
    CBS.zip is attached-

    Waiting for your instructions.

The problem appears to relate to the Event Log services....
    Code:
    (w) Unable to open Event Log 0x000006B5 Application OpenEventLog failed: 0x000006B5 - The interface is unknown.
    .
    (w) Unable to open Event Log 0x000006B5 System OpenEventLog failed: 0x000006B5 - The interface is unknown.
This is the second time I've seen these two errors in the past 24 hours - I'm beginning to suspect enemy action, since I've only ever seen them together once before.

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds

    Thanks guys,
I did both and it did not improve the situation. Incidentally there was no malware when I ran the scan.
I ran the second option of the Windows reset tutorial. No change.
This is what I did do.
1.I noted that the failures began on July 10.Prior to that date only a couple of failures. (looked at history)
    2. Did a RESTORE back to July 8. First try to update there were 17 important updates and all but 4 were successful. These four were the same ones that failed in my first post. Note: I omitted a sentence on my first post. Of the 7 files mentioned 3 did install OK,
    3. Tried an install on the remaining four . All four failed. They downloaded OK but would not install.
    4. Attached is a snip of the update list that failed.

Unless there are other ideas, I won't do anything else, regarding update, until I get somebody to look at the CBS.zip file that I attached to the first post.

The usual solution to this problem is the easy one.
Uninstall .NET 4 and install .NET 4.5 instead.

    NoelDP,
It appears that the installation o f.NET 4.5 did the trick. When I went to Update they had already been installed satisfactorily. Selected three of the "nice to have updates" and they installed satisfactorily. So will keep my fingers crossed .
Thanks to everybody who responded to my post.

    OOPS !!!
Did a manual update just 15 minutes ago. There were 7 updates were automatically selected. I instaled l them as follows:

    1. Started a manual install. All 7 downloaded OK. Only i installed 6 failed
    2. Started another manual install. 6 selected 4 installed 2 failed
    3. Started another manual instal. 2 selected 2 installed no failures. All seven now installed after three manual installs.
Although all installs were made it seems that some problems remain

That's not too bad -possibly a little residual corruption
What happens if you attempt to open Event Viewer ?
If it opens OK, look for the Windows Application and System logs - do they open OK?
