I'm not exactly sure what that all means. I got out of the IT game years ago and just recently took a part time job. I'm having to learn all kinds of stuff. Thanks again!

Basically, it means that the original errors were hiding the fact that the problem was actually a lot larger - and has probably existed for quite some time.
repairing those errors forced the Checksur tool to evaluate new areas - where there were a large number of files missing.

We need to continue down this line until the number of errors starts reducing again - hopefully back down to the three that I didn't get to the first time around. - and then see what SFC has to say about missing payload files.

Sorry about the delay - my 3G dongle has gone AWOL and I can't post attachment until I can get to a decent network tomorrow. I'll get back to you then.
If it would help, I could sort out a fix for this?
Hey Tom, I'm not sure if y'all have policies on more than one person providing a solution or not, but I'm willing to take all the help I can get. But I can understand how two people providing help on one problem could get a little hairy. I appreciate the offer, either way.
It's not policy as such, just courtesy really :) I'd hate to jump in on a thread that Noel is half way through dealing with, just in case he's sitting on a fix waiting to find the time to post it!

I'll try and sort them out tomorrow - but it's more likely to be Friday (Tom, you're welcome to join in if you can do it earlier!)

I've never needed any IE8 files before so I don't actually have any IE8 updates downloaded, but I've set the whole lot to download and I'll leave it chugging away overnight. In the mean time, can you download SFCFix v2 to your Desktop please:

    http://sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFixVersion2.exe

Run it then copy and paste the contents of SFCFix.txt which will open on completion of the scan. If it does not open, this file can be found on your Desktop.

I've got it running. I leave work in less than an hour so if it isn't finished I'll post the results tomorrow.

    Hi svldtech,

I have heard back from niemiro, the SFCFix developer, and we would be very appreciative if you could help us find the cause of this bug. If you are willing to assist us, then can you please do the following:

    1. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and double click on taskmgr.exe to run it. Keep this open but minimise it for the time being.
    2. Run SFCFix until it crashes but leave the "SFCFix has stopped working" message on the screen.
    3. Go back to the Task Manager we opened earlier and click on the Applications tab, then right-click on SFCFix.exe and select Create Dump File.
    4. When it finishes processing the file, it will tell you where the dump was saved. Copy (Ctrl+C) this file and Paste (Ctrl+V) it onto your Desktop.
    5. Right-click on it, click Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder then attach this to your next post please!
