Windows 7 SP1 and IE 9 updates fails. Error codes: 9C48 & 800B0100

Hello,

I im trying to help a friend with his computer. It tries to install these 2 updates but it fails every time.

The computer is running Win 7 32 bit. Antivirus is MSS and I have tried to turn off "Real Time Protection"
Have also scanned the computer for malware with: mbam, combofix and Hitman Pro

I have tried several times. Also in Clean Boot.

I have also tried to uninstall Explorer 9 both automatically and manually with no luck.

The first time i ran the System Update Readiness Tool the logs pointed me towards KB2817183.
I downloaded this pack and expanded the .mum and the .cat files to ...\Servicing\Packages folder and then ran the SURT again.

This time it fixed most of the errors, but the errors in the log below remains. I have tried to download the files both in English and Norwegian version with no luck.

Please see attached logfiles.

Any hints is highly appreciated as I am about to give up now :-(

Hello Stefan,

SFC has detected a corrupt IE9 component, so I'm hoping that's the cause of the 9C48! Your 0x800B0100 is really easy to fix though

And now I was able to install SP1 without problems.

And then also IE10. Which means there should be no need to worry about IE9 :-)

Thanks again!

Hi Stefan,

That's great news! Thanks for posting back the results

The IE9 issue shouldn't give you any problems but if it does just post back here and I'll sort it out for you.

You're most welcome for the help.
