Update to IE9 or IE10 after Windows 7 install

I just installed Windows 7 Pro and it came with IE8. Windows Update has an "important" update for IE10 and a "optional" update for IE9. Can I safely skip the IE9 update and go straight to IE10?

Yes - you can go directly to IE10 and you might want to read this:
