    Can't Activate Win7 Retail (3 year use) Hardware Update - Phone failed


    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate retail copy since around 2010 in my home desktop pc and today (17/8/2013) I upgrade 3 components of my PC which is Processor (Intel i3 3220) + Motherboard (Gigabyte B75M D3H) + RAM (8GB Gskill Ripjaws), but the HDD is the same but I format it.

    Now the fact these past year during my usage of the copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit , as I remember I format my home pc one or two times and after re-format / installation the activation took place very easily which is automatic online activation.

    But Today it is not, So is the reason creating of this thread. In these past years I bought one Laptop with Win 7 Home premium and one Netbook with Win 7 Home basic. I upgrade those laptop/netbook's HDD eventually and I did the phone activation and it went smoothly in one try.

    But today since afternoon I can't able to activate my retail copy - once I punch nine set of installation ID the automated voice instruct me to wait and the phone call get disconnected. Like the system forcefully try to cut me down and it happen at least 14 times.

    As I from India there is no SMS service available and out of 3 number given Activation window only 1 number working which is 1800 102 1100 and I try the suggested way like not to press anything so that I can talk to some operator but none in luck.

    I'm getting this Error code if I click 'Show me details of error....'

    You need to speak to an operator....


    telephone activation (operator calls)
    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and hit the Enter key
    follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

    Thank you NoelDP,

    Just activate my copy of Win7 Ultimate by calling to helpline and the automated voice reject me to give confirmation ID as usual.

    After talking to a human voice at first they ask my name/location/mobile no/email id and then they ask what is the problem,after telling the Installation ID for two times they provide the confirmation ID and immediately it activated. Hope it stay that way.


    Though I recorded the whole calls at my Andriod. But installation ID change today which was previously different (Sat-Sun).

    I'm stuck with this hazards for two days as Indian Microsoft Customer Care Working hours Mon-Fri 9 AM - 9 PM.

    So no luck if a user upgrade his computer during weekend and if he Genuine Windows retail copy user.

    Windows 7 gives you 30 days to activate, so it's not the problem that it would be with Windows 8 :)

    I'm surprised that India is working those hours, since most of the rest of the world appears to connect to Indian call-centers for activation assistance! (at least to judge from the accents on the other end of the phone)

    Yes, This ridiculous working hours for Indian Customer only (when attending domestic call & solving their problem), For rest of the world Indian call center connected for 24x7 for 365 days, No exception for any season.
