I'll get on these asap - but it's getting late, so it may not be until tomorrow evening I get a chance to post a fix protocol.

I really appreciate it, but I must take action before then. I am going to lose a work contract if I don't. I really appreciate all of your help! I'm sorry to get this far & bail on you. Do you have any suggestions for me? If not, I'm going to try a couple of repair options & then do a clean install if no luck? Thanks so much!

I think I've got everything except the VC9.0 files sorted. (VC ones are always fun, as they require extensive renaming, unless you're lucky!)

    I've uploaded a file - emnaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder emnaa in the same place.
Open this folder- there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifest sfolder (.manifest files) into this folder:
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

I'll work on the VC files tomorrow :)

Thanks my friend, but the point of my last post, was that I didn't want you to waste any more time on this, because I have to get this system up an running within the next 12 hours or so. I was just wondering if you had any suggestion as to whether it would be advisable to attempt a repair install/load reg hives, etc...or just do a clean install? You don't know how much I appreciate the time you've taken to help me out here.

As far as the VC90 problems go, you could try uninstalling the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable - that may fix the problems, and you can reinstall it afterwards.

There's nothing there that will stop the computer working - I didn't spot any grave errors in the CBs.log either - so you should be able to continue working without a problem.

Here's the file repairs needed from the CBS.log

    I've uploaded a file - emnab.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print theseinstructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, starttapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of whichshould be the option 'Repair my Computer'
    Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
    At the prompt type
    DIR C:\emnab
hit the enter key - if you get a 'NotFound' error try
    DIR D:\emnab
    or
    DIR E:\emnab

The drive letter in use when you find the folder willneed to be substituted (for<drive>) into the followingcommand...

    XCOPY<drive>:\emnab <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g.XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)andwhen the prompt returns, type
    EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit CommandPrompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in anElevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result.

Thanks. I will try everything here. The computer is working (in general) besides the not genuine error and missing device drivers--which cause those devices not to function. Thanks again & I will let you know how things turn out!
