Another Win 7 Build 7601 Not Genuine issue

    Hello Folks!

I thought I would try my hand here to fix an issue that I'm seeing (from a glance in the forum here) is rather common.

I purchased my desktop, which happened to be refurbished and sold "open box", through Newegg back at the end of August. It of course, came with Windows 7 Home Premium already installed and I had no issues until I started getting the messages that Windows was not genuine and refused to activate, either on the key that was already listed, or on the key found on the COA sticker.

    So hopefully, this will help:

Your System do not include what motherboard your desktop has.
We will need that information. This will help you.

The problem isthat your system is unable to properly read the BIOS SLIC table that should bepresent in the system to be able to self-activate the OS.

You need to change the Product Key to the oneon the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the batterycompartment), using the Change ProductKey link at the bottom of the System properties page.

You may need toactivate by phone.

Layback - I wasn't sure if it was needed or not, I really don't know where to find that information, to be honest.

Noel - I have tried using the product key on the COA sticker, as mentioned in my first post but unfortunately that does not work either. I have not tried activation by phone yet, so I might give it a go tomorrow morning, but if the product key on the sticker didn't work when I tried to activate through the usual means, who is to say that activation by phone will work you know?

Sorry for the delayed response, I've just gotten off work.

When you say the Key on the sticer doesn't work - what error do you get?

0xC004F050usually means that you've misread a character - either C/G/6 or B/8 or Y/V are the most common, an O/0 is almost always a Q

    Note that thefollowing characters cannot be used - AE I L N O S U Z 1 0 - so don't bother trying unless you like the noiseit makes :)

Layback - Got it, thanks for the tip! It's been updated :)

Noel - I'll double check and make sure I entered it correctly but I did try it a couple times to be sure I had it right. All it tells me is that it's not a valid key. I'll try and just double, triple check I have the key correct, but I'm confident I did before.

Update: Well I got down next to my case and clearly I must have had a digit or letter or something wrong the first four times I tried it. Seemed to work fine now. Got it activated.

    Appreciate the help guys!

Could you post another log like you did before but after the proper activation?
I would like to be able to compare logs so I can learn some things.
It's not required by me it's just a request.
