    Info on activation

I did not do the MAGDiag because I think you all can answer this without it.

I have installed Win 7 home premium on my desktop and it is working perfectly. I recently went to a garage sale and purchased Win 7 Ultimate for $5. I realize there is a possibility that it has been installed before. The thing is that I was told Win 7 comes with two CD's one for 64 and for 32. I have the 32 bit.

What I was going to do is grab my old toshiba lap top and try to install it, however if it did work I would be kind of ticked off since I could have used it in my desk top, like an upgrade. If not there is no loss since we do not use the toshiba.

My question is, if I try to install the 32bit as an upgrade on my desk top and it turns out to have been used already, can I just go back to my original home premium version? or will that be wiped out completely?

Thanks for any help on this folk's.

    Welcome Seven of 9 :)

Did the win7 Ultimate DVD 32 bit come with a COA-Key Code ? Even if it did, that Key Code could already be in use with the 64 bit, since the Key Code can be used for either, but not both at the same time. So you may own a $5 DVD, but need to purchase a valid Key Code

Please followthis tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on theCopy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup filesfor some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to yourresponse.

There is no point in us guessing - we need data on which to base some informed opinion.

Took a chance and installed it on our older Toshiba laptop (512ram and oem HD) and it worked perfectly. So, while I would have wanted it on my desktop paying $5 for 7 ultimate is really a deal. We had no activation problems at all. Thanks for your thoughts. case closed.
