    Your installation is counterfeit

You have an OEM_SLP Key from an HP computer, a BIOS SLIC table from an Acer, on a retail Gigabyte motherboard - all held together by a hacker's Activation Exploit.

I'm now only allowed to tell you that you need to reformat and reinstall, using genuine media and Key.

Oh no, you're kidding me! I bought this computer on ebay. Guess now I now why it was such a good deal

So if they put a counterfeit version of windows on the computer, who knows what other malicious stuff they put on there. This is such a bummer. Sorry for all the work you put into this, only to find this out.

I really appreciate everything you did to help me out.

Sorry about the bad news - I suspected it slightly because of some of the errors in the reports, which is why I asked for an MGADiag report.
Is there a COA sticker on the case, of any kind?

There's a Windows 7 sticker on the outside the case, but I don't see anything else that resembles a COA sticker. Arrggg!

Looks like now is as good a time as any to upgrade to Windows 8.

I'm avoiding doing that on my main machine(s) - it's to much hassle for real computing, even if it is great for the iphone generation.
