IE9 Update Won't Disappear Though Already Installed, IE10 Update Fails

    Hello,

I am running on a machine running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Other Windows Updates are working fine, but for some reason, the Windows Update for IE9 keeps appearing (and failing) even though IE9 is already installed. The update for IE10 (as well as the manual installer) also fail.

The "Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based systems" fails with error code 9C48.
The "Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based systems" fails with error code 9C59.

I've attached the CBS folder with the CBS and CheckSUR files (I had to remove some of the older "persist" files to fit it under the attachment limit).

    Appreciate any help!

    Thanks,
    Joe

The operative errors are in the CheckSUR results...
    Code:
    Unavailable repair files:
     servicing\packages\Package_for_KB2809289_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9.4.1.0.mum
     servicing\packages\Package_for_KB2809289_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9.4.1.0.cat

    I've uploaded afile - j99aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

    Please downloadand save it.

Right-click onthe downloaded file, and select Extract all…

Extract to thedefault location - which will create a new folder j99aain the same place.

Open this folder- there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to thefolder

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Nowrun the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Postthe new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Then run another SFC/SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log file

Then do a manual Check for Updates - what happens/shows now?

    Hello,

The updates still fail with the exact same error code. I notice that the files you provided have a filename which differs slightly from the filenames in CheckSUR - could that be related?

    Posting the requested files.

Thanks for your help! It's appreciated.

    (lemme check...)
Ooops! - that's what comes of having half an eye looking out for the boss....

Try this file instead (j99ab.zip - same routine! - same place)
Hopefully I have the right one this time!

Thank you for your help. The CheckSUR log marked the error resolved and didn't find any other errors. SFC didn't find any inconsistencies. The IE9 update disappeared and the the IE10 update completed successfully.
