    Successfully repaired failure to update

Daily, for the past week, I received a message to install an "Important Update" to MS Office Suite. Each time I tried to install the update I received a "failed to install" message. Retry and same result. Finally I came to this forum which has always helped in the past.

First I ran sfc /verifyonly and discovered several errors.
Next I downloaded and ran the SURT. This resulted in installation of Hotfix 947821.
To check I then ran sfc /scannow. This reported no errors remained.
I then went to Windows-Update and successfully installed the MS Office Suite update with no problem.
    Many thanks!

A question: while browsing thru some threads in the Updates & Activation section I read a post that stated the user routinely "cleaned up" outdated Windows Updates. I wonder if this is a good idea and, if so, is there a program that does this automatically?

You can read about the MS addition to the existing Disc Cleanup tool here:
Disk Cleanup Wizard addon lets users delete outdated Windows updates on Windows 7 SP1

I'll let you decide if it is a good idea after reading:
Windows Updates - Remove Outdated Updates in Windows 7

    and

Update is available that enables you to delete outdated Windows update

I ran it without any ill effects.
