    Windows Update - IE10 - Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 - 9C59 error

I have a machine that refuses to update to Internet Explorer 10. It appears others have had the same error code which was caused by file corruption on the drive.

When trying through WU i receive the 9C59 error.

Trying the standalone .exe from microsoft doesn't install either.

I've ran SURT to no avail.

    Any help is appreciated.

CheckSUR actually managed to find and fix one problem...
    Code:
    Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs

The SFC scan found one rather important error...

    I've uploaded a file - lkpaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
    Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
    At the prompt type
    DIR C:\lkpaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
    DIR D:\lkpaa
    or
    DIR E:\lkpaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

    XCOPY <drive>:\lkpaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g.XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type
    EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply.

The 80072EE2 error is a standard 'lost connection to internet' type of error.

The MSRT appears to be failing - also with a 9C59 error - this is NOT good news, and could indicate the presence of serious malware.

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds

Researched and solved the connection issue, turned out to be a flaky wireless signal where the laptop was.

I've now successfully installed all updates bar IE10 and IE11. When attempting those it fails with the 9C59 error.

I'm running Malwarebytes now, about 80% through and 2 detected objects so far.
