Windows 7 update "Service Not Running Error"

Long story short, Ive been attempting to install Games for Windows Live however everything I have encountered so far has led me here to ask for the help of others. You see I am running windows 7 home premium 64bit and when I attempt to update windows its states that "Windows update service is not running please restart." I have restarted and the problem has persisted and I am nearly at witts end. I have checked service to see if the problem lies there but it doesn't even show up....
Trust me I have tried everything I could find and even followed the instructions posted here in the guidelines Windows Update Posting Instructions As I proceeded to run the readiness tool the program stopped and gave me this error from the Windows Update Standalone Installer "Installer encounteered and error: 0x80070424. The specified service does not exist as an installed service" Which was to be expected seeing as it is not running under the services and several other things I tried gave me this error :/

Please download the Farbar Service Scanner from

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-service-scanner/

Right-click on the saved file and select 'Run as Administrator', and tick all the options, then click on the Scan button - copy and paste the report to your response.

Following Standing instructions would be a good start -
Please start a NEW thread of your own, detailing your own problems, and follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data to that thread.
