Windows detected not genuine after System Restore

Oh my god. My friend installed the Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 U (media refresh) X17-58997.iso without booting.

My.
I can't connect to internet, usb, even my mouse won't respond. What should i do?

As it says in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 you should have your network adapter driver in the backup so you can install it to get online, then enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) to run all Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots, until no more are offered when you go back to Check for Updates.

If you can't find your network driver, then in Device Manager>Network Adapter>Driver tab>Update driver browse to C:\Windows.old\windows\System32 folder and it should pick up the driver you had installed on the old install. Any time you install Windows from an OS it is not as clean an install, however it bundles the whole previous OS into a windows.old folder where you can access its files until you are sure you have them all, then delete it using Disk Cleanup.

May I suggest you study Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 because you will get and keep a perfect install to the exact extent you stick with the tools and methods compiled there, based on what's worked best in tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here.

If you want to start over then I would try another .iso with the tool in Step 2 to burn to DVD or flash stick, because the error you got after booting is almost always a bad installer. The fact that it installed from Windows does not change this.

Hi greg, thanks your response, but after shutting it down last night and turning it on this morning i got an alert when starting up. The ones that say startup windows repair etc i can't remember the exact sentence.
So i clicked system repair, but it failed and rebooted and it says
this

3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Is this caused by the installation done without booting?

Oh i forgot, and when i try to do as suggested by those steps i get a message when i click "repair your computer":
"Windows found problems with your computer's startup options.

Do you want to apply repairs and restart your computer?

Repair and restart | No"

Accept any offered repair. Then if it won't start confirm the Partition Marked Active is the 100mb System Reserved partition (if you have it ) or C then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times no matter what it reports.

If it doesn't start and also doesn't offer for Startup Repair to run System Restore, boot back in and run it manually from System Recovery Options

If it still doesn't start you can work through Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot but I think what I would do is run the booted Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with a new ISO and DVD or flash stick burn.

Did as you said on having new ISO and trying clean reinstalling. It works fine now.

By the way, you said that consumer laptops filled with bloatware from manufacture, so that means i shouldn't reinstall any driver from, in my case, ASUS?
Because some of these are important i think, like VIA audio driver etc.

So things like ASUS Live Update Utility and ASUS Instant Connect is un-needed?
I have a hard time categorizing which is important and which is not..
