But, but, a w7 SP2 doesn't even exist. They have announced there won't be one forthcoming, Their heads are, well you know, about Win 8.

Microsoft is going to have to issue a windows service pack two by download and on cd or dvds.
Otherwise, it wouldn't fit the lifecycle guidelines.

What is the support policy for Windows service packs?

Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first. If you are using software without the latest service pack you won't be offered any new security or non-security updates, although preexisting updates will continue to be offered. Refer to the Service Pack Lifecycle Support Policy for further information.

If you go by that Windows 7 service pack 1 support should end in February or March of 2014 but I know they won't do that. There are a lot of places that still sell new computers with windows 7 with & without service pack 1 installed.

How long can retailers sell a prior version of Windows?

We will continue to allow retailers to sell the previous version of Windows for a year after the launch date of the new version.
Technically, the retail company shouldn't of sold me this new system with windows 7 service pack 1 installed or should of provided a windows 8 or windows 8.1 upgrade dvd disk with the system purchase. MS doesn't enforce that, I don't think they can free enterprise in the U.S.

I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, but I felt like bringing it up. It seems to me Windows 7 could be a service pack. I have tried the vista sp2 beta and it is nothing like windows 7 7000. One thing that makes me think it might be a service pack is the mojave experiment. I think MS is...
