Windows Update does not show up in new win 7 Ultimate install

    Hi
I'm new to the forum. I just built a new AMD quad-core system with plenty of horsepower. I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all is good except it seems to be missing the Windows Update function along with the Action Center and firewall. I have done the MS Genuine Validation process. I have followed the instructions of this forum and downloaded the readiness tool (KB947821) with it's .msu extension but my system can't seem to do anything with it. I tried the run from a command prompt and got nowhere. I've tried the Microsoft fixit tool and it was unable to solve the problem. I have run chk disk and also SFC (which only got to 54% completion before it quit-tried it twice). I don't have any error codes to post because I can't even access windows update. Windows Update does not appear on my start menu nor does it or Action Center appear in Control Panel. I DO have an appearance of windows update on the IE11 tools menu but clicking on it just makes the computer "hang" with the little spinning circle. I have noticed that there is no wuapp.exe file in my windows/system32 folder. could that be the problem? I have included the copy of my CBS file (zipped) here. Can someone please help me with this? My new computer is naked, unprotected like a babe in the woods. I feel like my daughter could be attacked by any one of those malicious miscreants who do this kind of thing.

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

Rick, have you installed a large SHDD disk for your new install?

    Noel DP:
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. I downloaded the SUR Tool but can't run it. It has a .msu file extension and there's nothing on my system that will run this file. So what can I do to get this to run?

Just double-click on it - it's a standalone Windows Update installer, and Windows should install it itself.

In that case, you have some severe problems, probably involving malware.

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds
