    Windows Update Error 80070103

I get the Error number in the title when I try updating my Ethernet drivers via Windows Update.

Clicking the "Get help with this error" from Update finds 0 results, and the description of the error is "unknown error" so I am a bit at a loss what it means.

Does anybody have any idea what I could try?

    .

    Hi.

The same thing happened to me. In my case, I tried later in the day and it worked fine.

    Good luck.

The error code means that you already have the driver installed or the driver that's being installed has a lower compatibility rating than the one you have.
    Here are a few steps you could try out;
Go to your component's site, in this case the Ethernet manufacturer site, and download the latest driver from them
Run CCleaner's registry scan then cleaner, read about it here
    Restart
Uninstall your current Ethernet driver that's causing the issue
    Restart
Install the latest driver you've just downloaded
    Restart
    Do windows update

Let us know how it turns out for yah

Have you tried grabbing the latest drivers from the manufacturers etc?

(your specs aren't filled so we don't know which Ethernet your using)

Make sure when uninstalling the current Ethernet driver that's causing the issue to select the "delete driver files" option if available. That keeps them from reinstalling if Windows decides they're better than what you want to install.
