Windows Update Error 8020002e

Hello,
I am having trouble downloading and installing six updates. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system. I have been searching for a solution, ran the Microsoft fix tool and the update readiness tool with no success. I ran sfc/verify and there were no corrupted files found. I have attached my log file to this post hoping someone can help. Well, I thought I was going to attach the file. I'm getting an error message while trying to upload the CBS.ZIP file. Here's what I'm getting:

Server Error
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed".

Can someone help me with this one? sorry

the Server error is because the file is too large - delete the older CBSPersist files and try again

Thanks for the response. There are CBS persist files but they don't seem that old. Should I just zip the CBS text file and attach it, or does it have to be the latest persist file?

The CBS.log is essential - as is CheckSUR.log
The latest CBSPersist is often useful and the CheckSUR.Persist.log sometimes useful
The older CBSPersist logs are rarely useful - but nice to have

OK, I'll try to upload the files again. Hope you can help me figure out why I am getting this error when I try to install updates.

Thanks again

There don't appears to be any problems in either CheckSUR or in SFC/CBS - at all.
This leaves us with the possibility that there are connection problems between you and the MS servers - please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file, and it should give us some detail on that.

This appears to be simply a poor connection between you and the Windows Update servers.

What happens if you attempt to manually use Windows Update for the install? - there are 10 updates to be installed currently (according to the WU listing - which is not necessarily the same number as appear in your listing)

Noel,

I believe that is how I install them. I don't like to allow windows to do it automatically. I go to control panel, search for the updates and try to install them (typically the important updates only). When I try to install them is when I am getting the 820002e error. If there is another way to manually install them I don't know the procedure.

I have been trying to install the three important updates only. I also noticed twice when I shut down that the update icon was on the shut down button and it installed an update on shutdown. Since I started this thread I had five important updates that I was unable to install, now there are three so I guess somehow two of them got installed while shutting down (weird).

Thanks

I'd simply wait a while - assuming you have updates set to download but not install - and they should come down of their own accord.
What Firewall are you using?
What sort of internet connection do you have?
