Windows Update and BITS not functioning

Hi! So today I bought a new Wireless Xbox360 controller receiver for my Gaming PC, and I couldn't install the drivers! I got code 37 or something but it turns out it's because my Windows Update was not working. When promted to 'check for updates' It would give the message:

"Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer"

So I checked services.msc and both wuauserv and Background Intelligence Transfer... were not there.

Therefore I assumed there were some corrupt or missing registry files -or maybe a permission issue-, and I downloaded the approriate .reg files to patch them up; wuauserv worked fine but the BITS reg file gave the following error message:

"Cannot import C:\users\pc\appdata\local\Temp\Rar%DI00.653\bits-service-for-7-8vista.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes."

And even though wuauserv succesfully imported to the registry it still gives the same error message as Paragraph 2.

I tried a solution of launching regedit through PSTools and importing the reg file manually however it still would not work as it gave another generic error message.

So at this point i'm completely stumped and don't know what to do; I'm not sure if I even identified the problem correctly or tried the right solutions! So here I am, asking for help can some computer wizard please come help me out?

Edit: If you need additional information please ask! I really need help D:

Please download the Farbar Service Scanner from

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-service-scanner/

Right-click on the saved file and select 'Run as Administrator', and tick all the options, then click on the Scan button - copy and paste the report to your response.
