Problems with Windows Update

I followed the instructions provided for this problem and the SURT failed and gave this code: 0x800706be

Please help, I had a similar problem I thought I solved once I wrote 0s to my laptop. It just told me I needed to change the update setting to automatically 2 minutes after I turned it on. With this problem my internet browsers starts to lag badly.

Also I followed the instructions and zipped the CBS file but I get this error when I try to attach it: 500 internal server error: there is a problem with the resource you are looking for and it can not be displayed

First try the simple troubleshooter:

Click

, type troubleshooting. Click the result at the top for troubleshooting. Under the system and security category, choose fix problems with windows update. Run the troubleshooter, and then try to run windows update again.

Also try the following:

Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Update that is not working

If this fails, try the following tutorial using option 3:

Windows Update - Reset

Thanks, I just restored to an earlier date and it is working fine now.
