    Windows 7 Enterprise Activation Error

    Hi,
I bought a laptop (Lenovo X230) a couple of months ago from a seller on ebay. The machine came pre-loaded with Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 and MS Office 2010 Pro versions.
The laptop was working fine until a couple of days ago when I suddenly received a message about Windows activation error. MS Office started complaining about activation issues at the same time.
I tried to install latest Windows patches and used tools like slmgr/slui etc but to no avail. I keep getting errors.

The diagnostic report is pasted below. Can someone please advise on next steps?

    Thanks and regards.

Volume licences such as this can never be legitimately sold and you will not be able to activate it. Try to get a refund from the seller if possible.

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I am not sure I understand correctly. Lenovo laptops are sold in bulk on ebay with pre-activated Windows and MS Office software. Why wouldn't that be legitimate?

I am getting error code 0x8007007B when I try to activate the key. Microsoft suggests at Error 0x8007232b or 0x8007007B occurs when you try to activate Windows that one of the ways to resolve the error is to use a Mass Activation Key. However, there is no mention of Volume licensing being illegitimate. Can you please explain?

    Regards

OK, got your point. Seems I'll have to ask the seller to provide a MAK for my Windows 7 and MS Office copies. KMS client based copies should not have been sold outside the company where it was licensed.

    Thanks.

    Regards.

You will not be able to get a MAK licence key. These licences are not for sale to the genral public, and certainly not over Ebay. These sorts of sales are cons. Your best bet is to attempt to get a refund.

what version of Windows does this laptop have a COA sticker for, because you can try and do a clean install of that and use the product key on the COA sticker to activate and then after the clean install go to Lenovo's website and download all the proper drivers for your product
