    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 Update Errors 800F0826 & 8007054F

I was getting 800705F errors for one update for two weeks. After reading several posts I found the most straight forward resolution would be to do a Repair Install. I now have 26 updates that will not install

SFC Scan found nothing, Ran Windows 7 SURT. I need help.

    CBS file

I zipped my CBS folder but it's 40+MB and fails to post.

    I've attached the CBS.log file - zipped.

Please post the CheckSUR.log file as well, and the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file

Thanks for looking at this ...

Here is the CheckSUR.log file and for some reason I have two windowsudate.log files - maybe before and after I tried the repair? I attached both just incase it would be helpfull.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

    Components file

I had to boot into safe-mode to grab a copy of this file - otherwise windows complained it was in use. I also had to save as a .rar file , zipping it wasn't getting me under the 8MB limitation.

I'm not surprised that your system was having problems loading the hive - there appears to be a fair amount of corruption present.
If I'm right, it's well beyond my repair capabilities - so I'm going to ask someone else for a second opinion on it, in case I'm just misreading things.

It may take a couple of days for him to get back to me/us, so don't run away!

Hi Noel - Just checking in.
I'm wondering if I should just blow everything away and start from scratch - my concern with this is I have done this earlier this year. I ended up where I am in a matter of months.

Sorry no-one's been back to you!

If this is a recurring problem - and it sounds like it is - then there are usually two main causes.

    1) hardware failure - usually either RAM or hard drive
    2) Use of a registry cleaner/optimiser/defragger

It's probably worth checking the RAM and hard drive anyhow...

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Disk Check (use option 2, and run CHKDSK C: /R )
