Win 7 SP1 Ultimate x64 Windows Update Fails, error code 8007370B

For 2 weeks now, I have been completely unable to get Windows Update to run properly on my Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64 computer. I have no idea what I did to cause this and I've done some limited troubleshooting to no avail. I would really appreciate any assistance you could offer.

Per the instructions, I have completed the following:

    1) I ran the latest version of SURT for my OS.

    2) I attempted to run SFC, When sfc /scannow is run from the elevated command prompt, I get the following error:
"Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

When I attempt to run sfc /scannow from the recovery command prompt, I get this error:
"There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot". Please note that I do not have a reboot.xml or a pending.xml file in my Windows\winsxs folder.

    3) When I attempt to run Windows Update, I consistently get the following error code: 8007370B. Not sure if this helps or not, but when I run the updater, I usually get the TrustedInstaller.exe process running and consuming approximately 13% CPU. Sometimes the error appears within seconds, and sometimes it takes 1 hour of Windows searching for an update before that error code will appear.

    4) I have uploaded my log files here: https://app.box.com/shared/static/t1...z5kai23dh5.zip

If there is any further information required, please let me know. I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance!

After reading through a few more posts on this forum, I thought it would be best to proactively include 2 more pieces of information.

I have uploaded a copy of my COMPONENTS registry hive here: https://app.box.com/shared/static/sn...7hhhlz83kf.zip

You have some registry corruption - so your second post is useful :)

    Updates Trying to Install

Not sure if this is relevant, but thought I would mention this just in case.

I've left my computer on over night a few times now and Windows Updates is attempting to install the same 4 updates a few times a day in the background. I still get the 8007370B error when I try to manually run Windows Update. The 4 updates fail to install when I restart my computer, however they show up in my update history as successfully installed.

Yeah - that's because of the corruption...
I've managed to fix at least some of it...

    I've uploaded a file - bbsaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\bbsaa\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

OK - that's an improvement, at least.
    Code:
    Checking Component Store
    (f) CSI Corrupt Deployment Keyform 0x00000000 appid 21f12e9d52d..f90f7f0b807_31bf38u6ad364es5_6.1.7601.22296_f3e6c00561fc7bbd appid and keyform do not match; keyform is wrong.

I've now done another round of mods....

    I've uploaded a file - bbsab.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD2
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\bbsab\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

    Oh, bugger!
    Code:
    Checking Packages
    (f) CSI Unable to Query Store Version 0x00000002
I'll have to see if I can work out why that's happened - I can think of a couple of reasons, but need to test them out.

    Back tomorrow (I hope!)
