windows update error 80070490 on kb2647753 and kb2839894 (viruses)

Hello, I am working on fixing someones computer after multiple viruses infected it. I keep getting this error after trying to install these 2 windows updates. I have tried multiple solutions to fix this problem. I have tried installing them manually, resetting all windows update settings in one easy click, using the System Update Readiness Tool, and sfc /scannow. I also looked around the registry and found references to the kb's but didn't touch them. I just tried to run surt again however, and the installing bar is at 0 and not moving so I can't upload the cbs folder..

    What should I do?

    Virus info:
I believe I have removed all the viruses using malwarebytes and avg. I had to uninstall and re-install malwarebytes in safe mode because the virus somehow corrupted the original install. I removed about 100 viruses. Also chrome was infected with adware, and even after removing all extensions and programs that installed the extensions the homepage was still somehow hijacked. The homepage in the chrome settings however was set to new tab page and never changed. I fixed that by uninstalling and re-installing chrome.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I have already posted according to the rules. I didn't post the CBS because SURT no longer seems to work. I left it sit for about 3 hours and nothing happened. If you want, I can go ahead and post what's in my CBS, but I thought SURT had to complete first. Anyways, if you had read my first post, we could of avoided these wasted replies.

Please post the CBS folder as requested - without such specific data, all we are going to be doing is guessing.
Please also upload the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file, which may have more detail.

CheckSUR taking over three hours could mean a number of things (amongst then, simply a slow computer), not all bad. I have heard of it taking 5 or more hours, although I'd normal think about stopping it after 2-3 hours myself.

Here's the link to the zip, I couldn't attach it because I kept getting a 500 error. The windowsupdate.log file is also inside the folder.

For some reason, the CBS.log stops halfway through the SFC scan - please copy just that file to your desktop, compress it, and upload the compressed file to your reply.
Strange - from the background data in the CBSPersist logs, it appears that WU is attempting to install an older version of a package that is already installed.

    Windows Update - Reset
I ran the SURT again and this time it appeared to finish, I left my computer and came back and it said finished installing or something, but I don't think the installing bar ever moved. Anyways, since I ran it again, I'm uploading the whole folder + windows update log here: http://www.filedropper.com/cbs_3

If you just want the CBS log I've attached that here.

I had already done the reset, I did the third option which reset everything. If you want me to do it again, I can do that as well.

    The SFC scan was clear.
The background data shows the same error message as I posted above - with different times :)

Try the WU reset I linked to above, then do a Check for Updates.
Try to install only the oldest update available - what happens?
If it fails, post the C:\Windows\Windowsupdate.log file

So 'Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2839894)' is now the oldest update found?

Unfortunately, it's the same error message - 80070490 - and the update log isn't terribly informative, either
Supposedly, this is an error with a manifest file - but CheckSUR is designed to find them (even if it can't fix them), and your CheckSUR report is clear of any detections.

That being the case, really all I can suggest (and certainly the quickest solution) is a repair install of Windows.

See here for instructions... Repair Install
