Windows not genuine error

Hello,

I have been getting this frustrating error and have attempted to fix it using guides and what not from google etc and nothing has worked so I decided to seek some professional help in this matter. As stated in the not genuine windows posting guide here is a copy of the MGADiag. I am pretty sure my copy is genuine unless PC world gives out fakes Any help in the annoying error would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Phill

I don't believe it will ever activate.
You have a Motherboard MSI Z87 - G45 Gaming ATX Motherboard and a
Windows License Type: OEM SLP which will not work with your retail motherboard.

Where did you get your copy of Windows 7 ??

When I built my PC I used the hard drive from my old computer as advised by a PC builder. I was going to buy a new HD but he said it wasn't needed as the old one would work fine. My old PC was a Desktop bundle purchased from PC world. So to get rid of this I need to get a new HD and/or a new copy of windows?

The OEM_SLP Key is ONLY valid on the original computer on which it was pre-installed (in this case an Advent machine - PCWorld's own-brand).
It cannot be moved to any other computer - and you have according to the licensing rules created a new computer, when you changed the motherboard.

...and no - it won't do any harm to leave it that way while you save up for a new valid license.

Assuming you can get Home Premium, you can simply swap the new Product Key into the existing install - there's no need for a reinstall.

Good luck!

Sorry I lost this thread.
If it was me I would do what Noel has suggested. If you have a good install that works properly you only need a good COA for the same Windows 7 you have installed.

Happy computing.
