The SFC scan was clear, and there's nothing seriously amiss in the background CBS.log - I'll go through the CBSPersist logs later (gotta get to work!)

Okay. Btw is it possible that a trojan or virus is causing this

There's nothing significant in the CBSPersist files - and the 80070020 error appears nowhere.

Open Device Manager - and set the View option to 'Show hidden devices'
Find any entry for the device 'PXI Hardware HID Complaint Device'
right-click on it, and select Properties. Are there any error messages associated?
repeat for each instance of the device.
    Post back with the results.

    post your C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file.

This appears to be the error-sequence...

This appears to be a mouse driver.
If your mouse/trackpad is working OK, I'd say just hide the update and ignore it.

I really need this update in order to use my xbox controller and guitar hero controller on my pc. I got the drivers for my xbox controller but it won't work without this update.

In that case, I'll try and get a hardware specialist to look over the thread and see if he can come up with something.

Look Cryptic I am no expert but what I don't understand is why the controller needs the update. It strikes me like saying my GTX 650 GPU won't work without a certain update.

The controller I have really no idea what it is so can you let us know what it actually is please so we can look at the drivers for it.

It's an Xbox 360 controller and a usb guitar hero guitar for xbox they work fine on other computers in my house just not my computer. Since these controllers are HID devices I think it needs to update in order to work
