    Not Genuine Windows

I'm running a Dell machine with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 which was an upgrade from the OEM Vista Home Premium that came with the system.

Had an issue recently where after an overnight automatic update, the video driver seemed to be screwed up and since it has said that my copy of windows is not genuine. I've tried a system restore and regardless of the restore point I choose it fails.

Here is info from MGADiag report.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Gary

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data - it'll provide the detailed information we need to repair this.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

    NoelDP,

Thanks for your reply. After going through the update history, here are the errors I have found...

    Code 80073712 - Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2973351)
    Code 80073712 - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2973337)
    Code 800700C1 - Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2973201)
    Code 9C48 - Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems

My most recent CBSPersist cab file that was just generated today is over 20MB, and after removing the older CBSPersist cab files, the compressed folder is still 19MB. I selected a CBSPersist cab file from 7/29/2014 just to fit it on here. Please let me know if that is appropriate of if I need to do something else with that really large cab file.

    Thanks!

    Gary

They'll need fixing before we can do anything else.

I'll try and post a fix protocol tonight for them - otherwise tomorrow.

I think I have most of them sorted now - let's clear the decks a bit before I go to bed...

    I've uploaded a file - gshaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder gshaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

    Noel,

Thanks very much for being so willing to help. I'll tackle this when I get home tonight and post results.

Everything has been great on this machine for quite some time, and all of a sudden things went to crap. I believe it coincided with a big download from iRacing. When I started my machine the next day the video driver was borked and I had to download and install an updated version. That was the first indication something was wrong.

What causes stuff like this to happen?

    Thanks!

It doesn't appear that the CheckSUR.log or CheckSUR.persist.log files were since the last time. Both have a date of yesterday.

It looks like you ran SFC, rather than CheckSUR (KB947821) please run the CheckSUR download again, and post the new results.
