It's more likely that your disk is RTM while your installation is SP1

try downloading the proper SP1 disk from the links here... Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

Yes it's English RTM + Polish MUI, but I was booting from English SP1 image from Digital River. It's a known bug - if installer cannot detect NTFS drive (I have only separate Intel SSD with OS X installed with HFS filesystem) it will just show this confusing message.

I will try to borrow my old notebook SATA HDD which has Windows XP SP3 installed on NTFS so maybe it will start properly.

That's the first time that's ever happened!

Let's take a look at the permissions on the winsxs folder... and a couple of other items..

In an Elevated Command Prompt, run the following commands

ICACLS C:\Windows\winsxs
ATTRIB C:\Windows\winsxs
DIR C:\Windows /AL /S

post the results.

Here are some instructions to make life easier
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Ah!
None of those junctions should exist!
AND the permissions for winsxs are just plain missing, mostly - which blocks the system from doing anything significant.

The folder should be owned by TrustedInstaller (with Full rights), and Administrators, Users, and SYSTEM should all have the same rights a Users do in your output.

I'm in two minds whether to recommend a repair install or not - as I suspect that there's a lot that we're not seeing.

It's my bad this time - I think I messed up permissions when copying files for this folder, but everything else is ok. How to restore them to default ?

I've restored all permissions but now only had to restore TrustedInstaller.

It seems only the folder name is affected, all subfolders and files inside are ok

Click on the Owner tab
Click 'Other users or groups'
in the box, type
NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller

and click on 'Check Names' - the entry should change to TrustedInstaller
