Mesg: This computer is not running genuine Windows

About 4+ years ago I purchased a Windows family pack (3 machines) for upgrading from Vista to Win 7. I have a Dell 1535 laptop (32 bit) which came with Vista and a Dell Desktop (64 bit). I upgraded both machines. All was working fine. I had to reload the desktop about a year later and then again 2 years ago. Laptop works great...

This issue is with our Desktop. The upgrade to win 7 worked fine. I had an issue with the desk top and had to reinstall (can't remember what it was). In January 2014 the hard drive crashed and I installed a new hard drive. I installed Win 7 64 bit and had to validate via telephone. All went well. In July 2014 I started receiving the 'This computer is not running genuine Windows' message. The message keeps coming up. Of course the resolution from MS is purchase a new license, not a good solution for me. In the past genuine advantage always reported all was well! I tried the Suie (sp) and that would not start.

I have posted the Diagnostic report below the key on the report matches the key on the box...Help

Thanks John

To confirm that the problem is what I think it is, please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt window and post the results.

REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S
REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

Here are some instructions to make life easier
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

That's the response I expected...

I've uploaded a file - sluicom64.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file sluicom64reg

right-click on the file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
Close all windows, and reboot.

Run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

That cleared the immediate error - the SLUI|COM problem - but seems not to have cleared what I thought was a consequent error...

Licensing Data-->
C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(22, 1) (null): Library not registered.

This may simply be a 'hangover' effect - so we'll try this first...

Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

I ran your procedure twice the first time I had some fat fingering. As you can see the sppsvc was already stopped. nothing happened when I ran slui.exe. I shut down and ran the MGAdiag. It appears that I still have the same problem.

On the bottom of the screen (right justified) the following message appeared:

OK - we'll have to try and work out which relevant file isn't registered - there are rather a lot of possibilities!

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

regsvr32 apisetschema.dll /s
regsvr32 propsys.dll /s
regsvr32 slc.dll /s
regsvr32 sppcext.dll /s
regsvr32 sppcomapi.dll /s
regsvr32 sppcommdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 sppobjs.dll /s
regsvr32 sppuinotify.dll /s
regsvr32 sppwinob.dll /s
regsvr32 systemcpl.dll /s

Once complete, reboot, and run another MGADiag report - post the results, and we'll see if anything has changed.

I does not look like that much has changed (to my untrained eye). All the commands ran with no comments.

The comment about 'genuine windows' is still in the lower right hand part of the screen.

What I forgot to mention is the systems spends a lot of time in 'system wait' I.e. my cursor has a circle spinning around sometimes for as much a 10 to 15 seconds when as I can determine, when Outlook, Foxfire, and some other apps are running.

I have a large hammer and I think that may do the trick.

Hi Noel, first of all thank you for taking the time to assist me I really appreciated your efforts. It appears that my system is totally hosed when it comes to ‘Genuine Microsoft Software’. I plan to reinstall Win 7. I am developing a list of software to put back on the system I do use Carbonite for backup so I will not lose too much data if any. Since I don’t trust my hard drive I will purchase a new drive install and port my data files from both Carbonite and the old hard drive. I did run Malware and it found a few issues, mostly form some games, the entries were removed. Since my wife in not complaining I guess I did hurt anything!
When I installed last January I had to authenticate via the telephone. That process worked OK. Since this will be the fourth or fifth time the 64 bit version is installed on this desktop, I was wondering if there will be any issues that you know of that may pop up. Previously, I had reinstalled twice after authentication due to a configuration error. It was easier to do that than try to repair the install. I guess it is time to use the big hammer (reinstall). We will see what happens next week. Again many thanks for your help.
John
