    Windows updates are failing

    Hello,

I'm having trouble installing updates on a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional SP1 (x64). Could you please help me fix it?

Step1: System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

When running the SURT, it asks me if I want to install the following Windows software update?
    Hotfix for Windows (KB947821)

    It successfully installs the hot-fix.

    Step 2: SFC Scan

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
    em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    C:\Windows\system32>
Step 3: Windows Update Error Codes

    KB2976627
    Code 800B0100

Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
    Code 9C59

    KB2706045
    KB2511455
    KB2908783
    Code 8024200D

    Step 4: Log Collection

The maximum file size for ZIP files is 8MB but my CBS.zip is 66.9MB

Delete the older CBSPersist logs until the zip file is below the limit - or upload the complete file to a fileshare service (preferably DropBox or OneDrive) and post a link.

    Here's the drop box link.

Here's the summary from a recent CheckSUR (the latest one didn't appear to have completed properly)
    Code:
     Found 87 errors

The SFC scan shows the following errors...

...and the background errors in the CBS.log are almost all related to the CheckSUR problems.

I'll deal with the CheckSUR results first - when I get time - but it's likely to be tomorrow now.

(here's the list of affected files, for the record, and my ease of finding them again!)

    I've uploaded a file - sh2aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder sh2aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

    I knew I'd missed one!
    Code:
    Unavailable repair files:
     winsxs\manifests\amd64_microsoft-windows-d..-usermode.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17803_en-us_251461586e43c0e3.manifest
I'll post a fix with that one in a few minutes.

    I've uploaded a file - sh2ab.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder sh2ab in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Manifests)

Copy the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Also then run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file (zipped)
