The Event log shows this error for the latest install attempt...

Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile - Update 'KB2931365' could not be installed. Error code 1638.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Aktualizace zabezpečení pro rozhraní Microsoft .NET Framework 4 v systémech Windows Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64 (KB2931365).

This problem is usually best solved by running the .NET cleanup tool to completely uninstall .NET 4.x, rebooting twice, and then reinstalling .NET 4.5.x
