    General Updates Question

For several months this year updates were not installing. I did everything I could think of to fix the problem (registry repair, SURT Etc.) Finally I had "Microsoft Phone Support" take control of my system and they managed to fix the problem (after several hours on the phone). The updates have been installing just fine. Ok, so now I look at the update history and I find just as many "failed" installs as successful. With all of these failed installs I was wondering if Windows Update looks at past failures and tries again or if there is something I need to do to get caught up?

Also, the last two updates I have (KB2973351 & KB2973337) have failed several times over the last couple of weeks. I was going to run the SURT again or maybe call my new buddies in India. Any comments or suggestions welcome.
    Tnx,

WOW! So much information. I started reading and almost forgot what I was originally looking for. Thanks, if that doesn't fix my problem at least I have several hours of very informative reading to do. I love it, thanks. BTW, I'll start comparing what this tells me to what I see in update history.

The Update History is just that - a history of what happened.

WU will/should keep trying to install all patches which failed, until they finally install properly - it does not remove the failed attempts from the history.

Not a problem - it's something that tends to confuse many people. so 'you are not alone'!
