    IE10 & IE 11 installation error 9C59

    Hello everybody,

I've got a user at work on a Dell Windows 7 Pro 32 bit (OEM) machine. It is up to date on pretty much everything except Internet Explorer and I'm trying to fix that by installing the new versions but to no avail.

I followed the sticky and ran SURT and the SFC Scan. Attached below are the logs in the CBS folder.

I have an idea at how this may have happened. A few months ago my boss wanted to try if something would work with the ultimate version (Trial) of Windows 7 instead of Pro, can't remember why but long story short I had the task to downgrade the pc from ultimate to pro while avoiding a format. I think in the end I ended up using a tool that fiddled with the registry to make it think he was a Windows 7 Pro to do a repair install afterwards. Now that may have broke something as I can see here with IE, but how do I fix it, I have no idea of that.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

I just logged on the user's pc to verify these updates were installed. I can confirm these updates were present on the pc atleast according to the installed updates list.

Only Microsoft Security Essentials is present as security suite and no third party utilities are installed at the moment.

As for the update you just linked, I will have to wait until tuesday as the user is gone for the weekend and I'm not there on monday. I will report back after.

    Hi thanks,
If it's true only MSE is installed make sure to ask if anything alse was ever installed and if they were uninstalled properly with the uninstall tool made by the vender like Norton/ Mcafee/..... which they do make specialized removal tools for each,

If so it might be worth looking at doing some scanners for virus or malware corruption before looking at the main error,
Often times it's more straight forward to do a re-pair install

There's no errors in the SFC or CheckSUR logs - and the background CBS log is also clear.

    Please upload the following files.
    C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log
    C:\Windows\IE11_Main.log
    C:\Windows\IE10_Main.log
    C:\Windows\Logs\IE11_NR_Setup.log
