    80073712 Windows Error Update

    Hello all :)

I was just about to apply an update (KB2993651) 1.8mb. Dated on the 27th of Aug.

Only to receive this message with the following error code 80073712.

I did try the sfc /scannow

    Verifcation 100% complete.
Windows Resource did not find any intergrity violation.

But still I am unable to update

What would my next move be?

    Thank you.

I downloaded the tool and installed it..It took about 10 minutes for it to finish. But Unfortunately I still can not update.

Would you like to see the CBS log, Gator?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

The good news is that the SFC scan was clear - the not so good news is that CheckSUR couldn't repair the one problem it found..
    Code:
    Unavailable repair files:
     servicing\packages\Package_52_for_KB2973351~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum
     servicing\packages\Package_52_for_KB2973351~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.cat
I'll post a fix for that later.

more interesting is the error in the background of the CBS.log...
    Code:
     Line 32732: 2014-08-28 02:28:05, Error                 CSI    00000022@2014/8/28:01:28:05.717 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\componentstore\storelayout.cpp(11690): Store corruption detected in function ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout::CheckFamilyIndexForDeadWinnerComponent expression: (null)

The critical bit missing from that is...
    Code:

... and I'm not sure how we'll deal with that, yet.

    Sorry for the delay!

    I've uploaded a file - szzaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder szzaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
