    OOooppss!
This seems to have slipped off my todo list
I'll post the file later today, and we'll see how it goes.

    I've uploaded a file - rchae.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file comp.reg

right-click on the file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
    Close all windows, and reboot.

Then see what happens with Windows Update - if it fails, run both SFC and CheckSUR and post a new set of results.

Windows Update failed with same error.

sfc /scannow failed with same error.

    CheckSUR log has no errors.

Let's have another look at the registry..

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

    Bad news, I'm afraid -
There is a massive chunk of data missing from the registry - and corruption is present as well.

A repair install is your best hope

This is the error I get when I try to repair. It occurs immediately after copying Windows files to the computer at the beginning of the second step (Gathering Programs, Settings...)

I suspect that there are permissions problems. - your only real option now is a clean install
