Okay, so although it appears to have installed an update yesterday, I am still getting the 80246002 error if I try to check for updates. I've attached the zip file of logs. Scannow reported no errors.

    CheckSUR reported
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 5358
    No errors detected
    - so roughly 1.5 hours. I have seen it take up to three hours but I certainly don't start worrying until that point.

There's no significant problems in the CBS logs either.
I think we'll try for a clean slate - please follow the instructions here to reset Windows Update completely.
    Windows Update - Reset

See if that has the desired effect.

Hurray! It looks like all issues are solved! *throws confetti*

I ran the Windows Reset and have succesfully checked for and installed updates, so I think all is well.

Thanks so much for all your help, Tookeri and Noel! It is very much appreciated.
