Remove language packs from windows update

    Hey,

Those language packs in windows update are starting to get really annoying, it always says I have 34 optional updates, but seriously, who needs them all?

Is there a way to get rid of the updates at once?

You can "hide" the updates you are not interested in. Somewhere on the screen where you are given the choice of installing the updates it found, if you uncheck them, there is an option to hide the updates and then you will not see them again unless you "restore hidden updates."

I've been hiding them since launch and yet every time there is an update they are back. Other than "Hide" which appears to be broken is there a way to simply kill them once and for all?

Curious, I had that problem in my x32 RC install, but I'm not having it in my x64 RTM install. In fact, I have never seen them in the latter.

This could not have been less intuitive

Finally got rid of those pesky updates. Even with these instructions it took several attempts...

This could not have been less intuitive if Microsoft tried
