    Kb2998527

    Hello all...

I wonder if somebody could inform me about the following...

I received an, KB2998527 (A September, 2014 time zone update for Russia is available) today. Is this completely necessary to install? Even though I am from then UK. Or should I hide it?

    Thanks.

That's official Time Zone update for Russian time to apply before October 2014 and well it doesn't harm any to install.

Nothing to do with a security update, got it install...its just a recommended update.

    NOT QUITE!
this is a time-zone update - which means that although not critical, if the user has any reasonable chance of connecting to a Russiansite, it's likely to cause problems because of the time-differential between true and perceived time.
Most people in the 'non-russian' world can ignore the update until the next convenient time to reboot - but the update DOES need to be installed to prevent potential issues with access to Russian sites or data.

Although I did hide this particular update, I just restored it but only a few minutes ago and installed. I think it's best to be install it, to avoid any possible conflicts.
