    So I've tried the various fixes that have been posted in other threads.. with no luck.. and it won't let me activate via phone.. i get an error saying i don't have permission.. even when i run the various commands as administrator. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help.

    You have some major files apparently missing.
    This should help us work out exactly what the problem is...

    Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
    If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

    I completed all the steps. #3 did NOT give me any error codes. It says windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations.

    I ended up running registry clean up and repair and it took care of my issue.. I no longer get the error.

    Please post a new MGADiag report - although there are no related errors in your uploaded logs, I find it difficult to believe that this was solely a registry problem. What registry 'cleaner' did you use?

    Please post a new MGADiag report, as I suspect that the problem is merely hidden, rather than solved.

    So i ran the program found in this thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!ms...E/9iIiea3C6zIJ

    I actually ran it twice, the first first it said it fixed ~100 errors, so i restarted with no luck. I then ran it again. It then fixed 17 errors. I restarted and the error was gone.

    The direct link on the post you linked to is dated a year before Windows 7 was released - and could not possibly do the job you claim it did.
    The other links appears to be for spurious/dubious tools, which possibly install a lot more than you think they do.

    I wish you luck - but I seriously suggest that you at least run a malware scan...

    Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM Premium' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds

    Hmm.. maybe i posted the wrong link. I did quite a bit of searching and trying different things (which I know has its dangers). I'll definitely run that malware tool you posted. Did my diagnostic report seem okay? I really appreciate all your help. I'll try to narrow down exactly what I used.

My HP Pavilion dv6 laptop suddenly has decided Windows is not Genuine. I put in the number on the bottom of the laptop and it says it is verified and good.
