You appear to be using AVG as anti-virus.
This is known to sometimes cause problems - which can be made worse if other AVs have been installed in the past.
What other AV's have ever been used on this machine?
Please try updating using a Clean Boot procedure , and see if that cures anything.

hey

I'm not totally sure but i like avg so i don't think there have been any other av installs, but the McAfee, i think installs whit adobe flash player if you forget to unchecked it.

Have tried whit a clean boot and it don't help at all, and the only program who starts it self is Google chrome. If it is this procedure you mean "

1. Type "msconfig" in Start Search box, rightclick result to Run As Administrator. Uncheck everything in msconfig>Startup except AV; MS listings for Sidebar Gadgets, Stickies, Skydrive if you use them; and touchpad driver software if required to use certain features like scrolling or gestures. The rest are freeloaders that slow startup, hog CPU/RAM, and can spy on you. Programs can wait to start until you run them.

● Illustrated steps here: Startup Programs - Change.

● If you have a question about any listing, google it to find out what it does.

● Anything installed from Google is spyware which will track your internet browsing to paste interest ads. Use only the stable Google search box built into Browser and stay signed out of Google sites. You can greatly reduce internet tracking and spying by acting regularly to Opt Out of Network Advertising.

● Turning off HP Wireless manager sometimes requires first ticking "Allow Independent Wireless" box in its Preferences to default to Windows 7's superior wireless manager.

2. After several reboots enter msconfig>Services, check box to "Hide all MS services" then again deselect items same as in #1. Check back repeatedly here and in Startup list to see if anything writes itself back in - if so turn it off in its Program Preferences or Uninstall it. You now have a Clean Boot!

Thanks for your time by the way

Your Compaq almost certainly came with an AV pre-installed - either Norton or McAfee.
perhaps we should run the cleanup tools for both to make sure there's nothing left...

Download the McAfee removal tool from:

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Click Save, and save the file to a folder on your computer.
Navigate to the folder where you saved the file.
right-click on MCPR.exe and select 'Run as Administrator' to run the removal tool.

when complete, reboot.

Download the Norton Removal Tool from here https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home

Close all other programs, then run the tool. When it's complete, reboot the machine whether it asks for it or not.

After the reboot, open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

NETSH WINSOCK RESET

You'll be advised to reboot - do so.

A Clean Boot stops almost everything loading - see the details here... How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Sorry nothing different. still fails. tried clean reboot again still fails. The uninstall both starts before you can save them. So no start as admin.

try this...
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS /V PendingRequired

then reboot, and try Windows Update again
