SFC and Checksur errors. Cannot install IE 11 (code 9c57)

    Hi there,

I've got a lot of help from reading these forums in the past but this one has got me lost so I thought I'd post for help.

Basically as it says - Windows 7 home premium. Had to fix a booting problem (did via startup repair) and it now has corrupt files that seem to be causing problems with installing IE11 and two other updates. It says that the two updates install successfully (KB2871997 and KB2882822) but then I get prompted for them again at the next login. Internet Explorer 11 fails with code 9c57.

The problem seems to be corrupt missing files. I ran SFC /scannow and Checksur and have attached the CBS directory as a zip file (see attached).

Any help would be very much appreciated as I am going to have to go back to Factory settings as I am lost with this one. Thanks.

You appear to have a major problem in the registry.
    From your CheckSUR...
    Code:
    Checking Package Watchlist
    (f) CBS Registry Error 0x00000002 Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect Failed to open store key
I suspect that unless you have a System Restore point dating from prior to the problem, your only real option is going to be a reapir install (or a clean install)

That was what I suspected, thanks for the help Noel. I'll have a look and then bite the bullet and do a factory reset.

    Thanks for the advice.
