Windows Update Install Issues - error 0x80070057

I have been having issues getting all Windows Updates to install and I've tried a number of things to correct. Nothing seems to solve the problem. I ran the Update Readiness Tool with no problems. I am now trying to do a manual install of SP 1 - KB947821 and it's failing too with error 0x80070057. Attachment 338737

Here is the ZIPped Log data: Attachment 338738

    Any suggestions?

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

Hi .... thanks for the explanation. Are those caused by a hardware error or something with software? Or too early to tell?

Here is a link to the zipped components file ...

Thay can be cause by a number of things - one of which is faulty RAM.
ou may want to run a test with MemTest86++ to check it out. RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I'll have a look and see what I can do with these errors...

    I've uploaded a file - wkkaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    Code:
    IF EXIST C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD1 DEL C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD1
    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\wkkaa\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

    .

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

I don't see a wkkaa.zip file at your link ... the closest named file I see is wspaa.zip
