    Done!

Were you able to confirm (with the logs) that SP1 is not installed ? do you want me to check with Windows update (I do not know how to do) ? Why can't I run the dowloaded package from the MS downloadcenter ?

    Thks

The download mentioned in post #1 seems to be an iso. This is a DVD image file and must be burned to a DVD-R using Imgburn or similar. I think that method is aimed at IT professionals who need to update many systems. Most pc users get SP1 via Windows updates, although I guess the DVD method should also work for you. This is for info only, and I suggest you don't use the DVD method just yet, but follow NoelDP's instructions.

badcrc hit the nail on the head - the download is primarily for IT techs, rather than single users. It contains all the files required for both 64-bit and 32-bit installs and 5 languages!
However, it's certainly worth a try, and sometimes does work where the WU option fails - it may also give us useful data if it does fail.

The file you downloaded IS an ISO file - and must be burnt to disk before use - however, there is an executable download which will work, on the same page... but the MS site appears to be down at the moment.

I'll try and find a direct link to the download you need (SP1 French for x64)

    Hi,

indeed I tried to install SP1 from the download center according to Microsoft instructions (Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)), first
    • "Windows Update".... but it didn't work with my laptop, so I tried the 2nd suggestion :
    • "Downloading SP1 from the Microsoft website"

I followed the "http://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/download/details.aspx?id=5842" instructions, and arrived on this page : Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center

I downloaded the 1st choice (the iso pkg).... I agree with you, this is not what I need...and I don't think that the .msi packages is of any use either...

Indeed, according to install instructions on this page (Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center), I should dowload and install : windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe [according to microsoft, this application installs Sp1 to a 64-bit machine running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2], but I'm unable to find it ...

I'm gonna wait further instructions from NoelDP.

    Regards
