windows not genuine after power loss

I've been working at this trying everything I found for the last 6 hours or so and it's still giving me problems. It shows the usual not genuine message in the bottom corner of my desktop and I get access denied when trying to run slui.exe.Any help would be gladly accepted.

You will need to go through the activation process and call Microsoft if necessary.

I can't do either of these things because I can't run slui.exe even if I wanted to call them lol.I ran a SFC scan and it came back clean as did a chkdsk.

It doesn't make any difference anyhow - the install looks to be counterfeit.

The installed Product Key is an OEM_SLP Key which is ONLY valid on machines built by Asus, and when using the Asus recovery media

The motherboard here is a Retail one - and doesn't have the required Asus SLIC table in the BIOS to be able to activate the OEM_SLP Key.

Is there a COA sticker on the case for Windows? If so, for what version and edition is it valid?

No there was no sticker when I bought it but I've had it for 3 years now with no problems with it not being genuine up until last night after it froze launching a game from steam.I had to hold the power button to shut it down and when it started back up is when this all started.

Because Noel is a very busy member let me see if I can help with a understanding.

This motherboard Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and this Windows License Type: OEM SLP
will not legally work together.

OEM SLP is installed by the manufacture of the computer on the motherboard that came with the computer. They are locked together.

Their are those that hack a system to make it work illegally. Sometimes it will show up right off the bat and sometimes it takes a while. You got lucky it took awhile.

Your computer should of had the sticker from Microsoft giving you a COA number. They are not suppose to be sold without such a sticker for a Windows 7 operating system.

Please take a closer look for the sticker. Top, bottom, inside the case. Its about 3 in. x 1 in.

It should look something like this.

If you still have the original case the Windows 7 DVD came in, it still might be there.

Well there is no key and I unfortunately bought the computer from a local custom shop that has since gone out of business or I'd report it to MS.I suppose I could still report it but I doubt I'd get a replacement.Guess I have no choice but to save up for a new OEM key since the MS store only has win 8.1 now.
