    cannot install automatic windows updates

Just joined this forum and read information. My automatic windows updates is not working I tried to install System Update Readiness Tool for Win 7 x64 based systems KB947821 and got the error 0x80080005 server execution failed. My action center keeps telling me to change windows update settings to automatic and when I do it does not work, keeps telling me that it cannot check updates because the server is not running
    Help!

Let's see what reconfiguring the BITS service properly does...
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

    SC CONFIG BITS start= Auto

    note all the spaces!

Once the prompt returns, reboot, and try Windows Update again.
If it fails, run the Farbar scanner again and post the new report.

OK - looks like one of the core services is failing...

    Open Event Viewer

click on theWindows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.

Now click on theApplication entry - wait while it loads.

Click on 'File'in the menu bar and select Save...

    Save the file asAppevt.evtx

    Repeat for theSystem log

    then zip both,and upload them.
