Can't check for updates, SURT fails.

    Hello.

I can't check for Windows 7 Updates. I get an error saying that the service isn't running, even when it is (I checked services.msc). I tried running SURT, but I get an error 0xc8000247. I tried sfc /scannow, didn't work. CBS logs are attached. Thanks.

    You're probably also getting a 'non-genuine' error??

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

    Nope, Windows is 100% Genuine.

You sure it's RST? My motherboard doesn't even have it... I have Matrix Storage. The chipset is P45, mobo is Asus P5Q pro.

the IRST drivers are an updated version of the Matrix drivers - if your machine was built after about Jan 2010, then the IRST drivers should install fine.
If the machine is older than that, then install the latest Matrix drivers...

    PC is from 2008.

Installed the Matrix drivers, rebooted twice, still nothing. I checked Task Manger to see if it was running and it was. And here's the MGADiag.

The installed Product Key is a COA_SLP Key and is normally only valid on machines shipped with Windows 7 pre-installed. Your motherboard appears to be a retail one.
From where did you purchase this Key?

Since installing the drivers appears not to have worked, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

Tried it, when restarting the cryptsvc it appears to be already running. Is that OK?

Looks like we'll have to do things the hard way

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Hmm - I didn't notice that the SLIC table was missing here.
Technically, this is a counterfeit install, since the OEM license cannot be moved to a new machine.
