Windows 7: "Windows is not genuine" message and extremely slow

I copied the entire D: (data) drive so I think I got all the data.
The were a few folders that didn't copy because I didn't have admin privileges even though I was logged in as administrator. I didn't recognize the folder names.

AppData is probably the only one that may matter - but it should be OK to ignore.

OK - now we have your data safe, you need to run the test utility from your HD manufacturer.
First check Device Manager, and see what the drive model number is stated as - it may also give the manufacturer's name.

Download the appropriate test utility from this list Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure then create the bootable USB or CD and test the drive. What does it report?

I can't seem to make the hard drive diagnostic to work.
Downloaded two tools from Hitachi (now Western Digital I guess). One to run in Windows and one to run from the boot disc. Ran it both ways and got the same result. NO drives were detected to scan.
The Drive Fitness Tool User Guide stated "Please note: WinDFT is not designed to run on your primary operating drive." Isn't that the only drive I have in my laptop? No further explanation or instruction on how to deal with that.

Ok in that case search the tutorials here for the hard drive test using seagate seatools for Windows (posting from my phone)

Results of hard drive test using Seagate Seatools.

Run on Windows; passed short and failed long test.Results attached.
Run on DOS yields same result; passes short test, fails long test. Saving The log requires changing the boot sequence and re-running test.; I have not attempted that yet.

I wouldn't bother - it shows that your HD is almost certainly in the early stages of failing. Further strenuous testing could make it fail catastrophically.

You need to plan on replacing your hard drive, and preferably doing a clean install on the new drive.
